How to hot-wire a Key switch on a roller shutter

How to smash open a key switch and break into a shutter

I sometimes get asked about the security value of a key switch mounted right next to a shutter, open to any random burglar. It is supposed that you can take the front off the switch, then touch the wires together to get the shutter working.

So let's see how we get on. First, remove the front panel, then find the wires, and carefully connect the Neutral to the Up wire.

In my view, when you cut the wires - as I do here - 230V at 13A will either trip the internal circuit breaker of the power supply, or, subject the burglar to the whole lot of it - 3.000W of energy¬!
